FASHION ORIENTED FUTURISTIC THINKING

 

 Thinking about the future allows for a timeless and infinite “set” of perspectives emanating from the one who performs the act of thinking. Hence, the impossibility of any fashion oriented thinking unable to imagine a “future”, even if this possible future world imitates a past, re-discovered in an imaginable moment not yet fully realized in real time.

Namely, fashion oriented futuristic thinking merges organic rhizomatic concepts with inorganic concepts, aesthetically appealing due to their synthetic-ability.

 

Avante garde fashion is not a completely traceable historical trend, because the inherent meaning in calling it “avante garde” requires a conceptualization that transcends a historical moment. In a sense, IT is fantasy realized in small glimpses interpreted and known to us as life, actual conscious experience.

JOSÉ DURÁN

 José Durán a New York based designer from Moca, Dominican Republic made a special spring collection to be exclusively featured at EVA NY. His holistic perspective is apparent in his organic designs. “Each collection illustrates his progressive thought process – focusing on the balance of fluidity and structure, and expressing an avante-garde sensibility that captures the mind, body and spirit.

 

The Vogue Vibes writes, “Durán’s talent in making high fashion and avante-garde wearable is undeniable.” Once you see his collections it’s easy to understand how comfortable he is as a designer and with his state of being in general. This comfort is what makes a mature artist and mature works.

 

Durán in a book devoted to his life and work entitled: WelcometomyWorld is quoted saying:

 “I am free like a bird, with many desires to fly,

the horizon is my goal,

                with a clear mind what I want and do not want in my life,

    everything, everything in this world is possible to be obtained,

             I am who I am and I am happy to be who I am.”

These are the thoughts swirling through our brains here at EVA after a long days work and the historically sensual grapes from a glass of Fuligni 2007 Brunello Di Montalcino cannot seem to leave the pallet.

Alfred North Whitehead, a twentieth century American philosopher, hailed by Gertrude Stein as one of the three most brilliant people to have ever lived, embodies a philosophy characteristic of the natural order of the cosmos. That NYC is a place always in process is understood by all those that inhabit the place. No one accepts this place as static. Here at EVA the designers represented, have created collections to be worn in this ever changing environment.

Daniel Palillo's collection Never Mind allows you to simultaneously affirm NYC fast paced environment while also ignoring it. This doubly existential stance allows one to keep, protecting even, their subjectivity, while not becoming isolated within it.
